List of Vietnamese Clausiliidae

Hartmut Nordsieck (II. 2015)

The species are listed in alphabetical order; assumed subspecies and synonyms (indicated with =) are added. The species are accompanied by information on their known geographical range (provinces).
The list, which for the first time was published in Nordsieck (2011: 150-152), is completed by the collecting results of C. & J. Hemmen in 2011 and 2012 and the information given by Grego et al. (2014).

Garnieriinae C. Boettger 1926

The synonymization of Neniauchenia and Grandinenia by Grego et al. (2014) is not accepted. The genital apparatus of Neniauchenia steffeki (: fig. 1) is, as far as can be concluded from the figure, largely correspondent with that of Ptychauchenia panhai (Nordsieck 2010: text-fig. 1). Both differ from that of all (six) examined Grandinenia species by the shorter penis, especially its proximal part, and the longer epiphallus which is bent before the transition to the penis. Neniauchenia and Ptychauchenia exhibit also a lower palatal plica, which is quite different from that of Grandinenia (well-developed, plica-like). Neniauchenia is obviously more closely related to Ptychauchenia than to Grandinenia. A combination of Neniauchenia and Grandinenia within one genus is therefore not recommendable.

ardouiniana (Heude 1885), Grandinenia (= horrida Mabille 1887, = sajoi Szekeres 1969): Quang Ninh, Hai Phong.
bavayi (Lindholm 1924), Tropidauchenia (b. bavayi, b. senescens H. Nordsieck 2011): Bac Can, Tuyen Quang.
demangei (Bavay & Dautzenberg 1909), Euryauchenia (d. demangei, d. dextroversa H. Nordsieck 2014): Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa.
dorri (Bavay & Dautzenberg 1899), Tropidauchenia: Bac Can.
fischeri H. Nordsieck 2002, Euryauchenia (f. fischeri, f. reticulata H. Nordsieck 2002 (= phasmoides Grego & Szekeres 2011)): Tuyen Quang?, Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa.
gabijakabi (Grego & Szekeres 2014), Neniauchenia: Quang Binh.
giardi (Fischer 1898), Tropidauchenia (g. brunnea H. Nordsieck 2002, g. citrina H. Nordsieck 2002, g. giardi): Cao Bang, Lang Son, Bac Can.
ootanii H. Nordsieck 2007, Tropidauchenia (o. longicollis H. Nordsieck 2011): Ha Giang.
orientalis (Mabille 1887), Tropidauchenia (o. messageri Bavay & Dautzenberg 1899, o. orientalis): Ha Noi, Lang Son.
palatalis H. Nordsieck 2011, Tropidauchenia: Ha Giang.
panhai H. Nordsieck 2010, Ptychauchenia (p. n. subsp. H. Nordsieck, p. panhai): Quang Binh.
proctostoma (Mabille 1889), Megalauchenia (p. donggiaoensis (H. Nordsieck 2002), p. forceps (Loosjes & Loosjes-van Bemmel 1973), p. proctostoma (= goliath Rolle 1910)): Ha Nam, Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh, Son La, Thanh Hoa.
soror H. Nordsieck 2011, Megalauchenia: Thanh Hoa.
steffeki (Grego & Szekeres 2014), Neniauchenia: Nghe An.
tonkinensis H. Nordsieck 2010, Neniauchenia: Quang Binh.
yongshuae H. Nordsieck 2007, Megalauchenia: Thanh Hoa.

Remark:
According to the information of S. Panha on the respective labels, Ptychauchenia panhai (Fig. 1) and Neniauchenia tonkinensis (Fig. 2) have the type locality Cuc Phuong N. P., Ninh Binh. Both species have otherwise only been collected in the province Quang Binh; neither by K. Ookubo nor by C. & J. Hemmen have they been found in Cuc Phuong N. P.
Checking the Senckenberg collection I stated that also Megalauchenia proctostoma and Oospira miranda have been recorded on labels of Panha from a wrong National Park (Huu Lien N. R., Lang Son province), where both species do certainly not occur.
Therefore, the localities on the labels of Panha are with high probability wrong (see also Grego et al. 2014). The Cuc Phuong N. P. has obviously been changed by mistake with the Phong Nha - Ke Bang N. P., where both species have been collected by Ookubo and Hemmen.
Herewith, the type localities of Ptychauchenia panhai and Neniauchenia tonkinensis are corrected to Phong Nha - Ke Bang N. P., Quang Binh province.
